The best Semrush alternative depends on the job you were buying Semrush for. Semrush's SEO plan costs $139 a month in September 2026 ($199 with AI search tracking, up to $549). For backlink depth, Ahrefs Lite is $129. For rank tracking and an all-round suite at a lower price, SE Ranking Core is $129 ($103.20 billed yearly). For keyword research on a budget, Mangools Basic is $37.70 a month on the annual plan. For deciding what to do with the data and executing it, SEnuke AI is $97.
Below: the eight options sorted by job with a one-line verdict each, a price table with sources, the three jobs where nothing beats Semrush, and the stack I would actually run at three budgets.
Semrush is the best-known SEO suite, and for most operators it is also the most expensive one they consider. The plan structure changed this year: the classic SEO plan is $139 a month, and the three plans that include AI search tracking (Starter, Pro+, Advanced) run $199, $299 and $549. The $139 plan covers 5 websites and 500 tracked keywords; the $199 Starter adds 50 AI prompts a day, and the limits scale from there. Those numbers come from Semrush's own plan comparison, read on 23 September 2026.
Three complaints drive most searches for an alternative: the price, for a solo operator who uses a fraction of the allowance; depth, because Ahrefs has the stronger backlink index and Surfer the stronger content editor; and the one I hear most from people who already pay, that the data does not tell you what to do next and nothing in the suite does the work. That last gap gets its own row below rather than pretending a decision layer competes with a keyword database.
Start with the job, not the brand. Two rows are tools I pay for (SE Ranking, Mangools); one is the platform I have run since launch day and rate with reservations (SEnuke AI); the rest I have used on client work without a current subscription.
Lowest paid tier per vendor, monthly billing unless the vendor only publishes yearly. Semrush is in the first row for reference. Every figure was read on the linked vendor page on 23 September 2026; prices change, so click through before you buy.

An alternatives page that never recommends the incumbent is a sales page. Here is where I would keep paying Semrush.
I have run SEnuke AI on the $97 Entrepreneur plan since launch on 8 September 2026, so this is the one row I can describe from the inside. It is a decision and execution layer, not a data platform: the intake builds a Business Brain, the Strategy Engine turns it into a plan (450 units), Next Best Action queues the work, and the Approval Center lets nothing run without a click at the default Manual level. Nothing in the other seven tools has that loop.
The keyword module is not the point. Its suggestions are assembled from the intake text, mix in unrelated terms, show CPC and paid-difficulty metrics where an organic operator wants search volume and organic difficulty, and lean on a Search Console connection. If keyword research is the job, buy Mangools or SE Ranking and bring the list in. The site scan also produced many false positives on my domain, and I have not yet tested execution end to end; the day-30 verdict is planned in the review.

Your question is "what does the market look like": volumes, backlinks, rankings, a competitor's ads. Ahrefs, SE Ranking, Mangools, Moz, SpyFu and Screaming Frog answer it at $37.70–$129 a month. This is most Semrush searches.
You already have data and the plan still does not get done. SEnuke AI's value is the intake-to-approval-to-execution loop, at $97 monthly, for a local business or an agency with local clients. Do not buy annual before the day-30 verdict.
What I would run instead of a single Semrush plan, with the September 2026 prices added up.
My own stack: SE Ranking and Mangools for data, my Business Brain and Executor skills workflow for the decision layer (both are in my 9 bonuses), and SEnuke AI on monthly billing while the day-30 test runs. The wider SEnuke AI alternatives page covers Writesonic, GoHighLevel and HubSpot Breeze; the SEnuke AI vs Semrush comparison goes row by row.
The review shows every SEnuke AI screen, the AI Capacity meter and the Approval Center, and says plainly where the platform is weak. If you buy through my link, my 9 bonuses include the Business Brain Dossier with installable AI skill and the Revenue Leak Finder; the bonus link appears on your JVZoo purchase page after checkout, no email needed.

There is no single best Semrush alternative; it depends on the job. For backlinks and all-round research it is Ahrefs ($129 Lite); for rank tracking and audits at a lower price it is SE Ranking ($129 Core, $103.20 billed yearly); for keyword research on a budget it is Mangools ($37.70 Basic on the annual plan); for competitor PPC history it is SpyFu ($39); for technical crawling it is Screaming Frog (£199 a year); for content optimisation it is Surfer ($49 Discovery). SEnuke AI ($97) is the option for deciding and executing, not for data.
Mangools Basic at $37.70 a month billed yearly ($61 monthly) is the cheapest option in this comparison that covers keyword research, SERP analysis, a backlink lookup and rank tracking for 200 keywords, with weekly rank updates. If you need daily rank updates, SE Ranking Core at $103.20 a month billed yearly ($129 monthly) tracks 2,000 keywords daily, which is four times the allowance of Semrush's $139 plan.
At the entry tier, slightly: Ahrefs Lite is $129 a month against Semrush's $139 SEO plan, and Ahrefs also sells a $29 Starter plan for light competitive research. Above that the two are priced closely (Ahrefs Standard $249 and Advanced $449 versus Semrush Pro+ $299 and Advanced $549), and Semrush's higher plans include AI search tracking that Ahrefs sells separately as Brand Radar from $199 a month.
Moz Pro includes 50 tracked AI prompts across four models on its $99 Standard plan, SE Ranking sells AI Search tracking as an $89 add-on ($71.20 billed yearly), Mangools bundles its AI Search Watcher into Basic, Surfer's $82 AI Search Analytics plan tracks 50 prompts, and Ahrefs sells Brand Radar from $199. SEnuke AI's AI Citations screen checks entity readiness, schema and llms.txt rather than tracking prompts; the AI visibility tools comparison covers the dedicated trackers.
No. SEnuke AI is a decision and execution layer: it builds a model of your business, proposes the next action, waits for your approval and executes it on a metered budget of 4,000 AI Capacity units a month at $97. Its keyword module assembles suggestions from your intake text with paid metrics and no proper filter, so it does not replace a keyword database, a backlink index or a rank tracker. After two weeks I recommend it monthly only, for local businesses and agencies with local clients, alongside a data tool such as SE Ranking or Mangools.
Only for three jobs: market and traffic analytics for sites you do not own, paid and organic data in one login for a team, and client reports the client already knows as "the Semrush report". For a solo operator or a small agency, a stack of Mangools or SE Ranking plus Screaming Frog covers the rest for $38 to $130 a month.
